Make it either mixed seafood biryani with fish, prawn and squid or make it fish biryani or prawn biryani by excluding other in the recipe accordingly.

Ingredients

For marination
  • Fish - 500 g (preferably boneless cubes)
  • Medium sized prawn - 200 gram
  • Squid (if available) - 200 gram
  • Chili powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon - 1/2 no.
  • Tamarind extraction - 1 tablespoon (optional)
For rice

  • Refined oil - 4 tablespoon
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Fennel seed - 1 teaspoon
  • Bay leaf - 1 no.
  • Pepper corn - 4-5 no.
  • Cardamon - 1 no.
  • Clove - 4 no.
  • Onion - 1 medium sized
  • Tomato - 1 medium sized
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 table spoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Chili powder - 2 teaspoon
  • coriander powder - 2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala powder - 2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Rice - 3 Cups
  • Coconut - 1/4
For topping

  • Ghee - 1 tablespoon
  • Mustard - 1 teaspoon
  • Red  chili - 2 no.
  • Green chili - 1 no
  • curry leaf - 1 spring
  • Coriander leaf - 3 spring
  • Mint leaf - 1 spring
  • Garlic - 2 clove
Preparation
  • Wash, clean and marinate fish/prawn with set of ingredient for marination at least 1 hour before cooking
  • Wash, clean and soak rice for 30 minutes
  • Slice onion and divide to two equal portion (1 for deep frying, 1 for cooking with rice)
  • Fine chop tomatoes
  • Grind Ginger-garlic paste
  • Take coconut extraction 
Cooking
  • Deep 1 portion of sliced onion and keep aside
  • Heat oil in a thick bottom cooking vessel (or cooker)
  • Add cumin, fennel, bay leaf, pepper corn, cardamon, cloves one by one and fry them
  • Add onions and cooking until then turn mild brown
  • Add ginger garlic paste and cook until they off flavor
  • Add tomatoes and saute well
  • Add turmeric, chili, coriander, garam masala powder and mix well
  • Add water, salt and allow it to boil
  • Add rice and coconut extraction and cook rice until almost done


  • In a frying pan, heat oil and ghee
  • Shallow fry marinated fish,
  • add mustard, garlic, green & red chili, curry leaves to fish just before taking them out
  • Add this on top of rice along with fried onions, coriander & mint leaves and 'dum' it for 5 + 10 minutes*
Notes
   * 5 minutes with fire ON and 10 minutes after turning off
